Cobb Salad in a Jar with Buttermilk Ranch
This Cobb Salad in a Jar layers romaine lettuce, diced chicken breast, grape tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, gorgonzola cheese, avocado, bacon, scallions, and a buttermilk ranch dressing inside a mason jar for a portable, portioned salad. The combination of fresh vegetables, creamy cheese, protein from chicken and eggs, and smoky bacon creates a well-rounded texture and flavor profile. The buttermilk ranch dressing complements the salad’s ingredients with a tangy creaminess, making it suitable for meal prep or on-the-go lunches.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise light
- 2 Bacon center-cut strips
- 1/4 cup buttermilk 1% fat
- 10 grape tomatoes (quartered)
- 1/4 cup scallion fresh, chopped
- 2 ounces avocado 1/2 small, diced
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 egg diced, large, hard-boiled
- 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
- 4 ounces chicken breast diced, or leftover rotisserie chicken, grilled
- 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 ounce gorgonzola 1 generous tablespoon, or blue cheese, crumbled
- 1/8 teaspoon parsley dried
- 4 cups romaine lettuce chopped
- 1/8 teaspoon basil dried
- black pepper fresh
Instructions
- Whisk all dressing ingredients in a small bowl until combined. Set aside
- Cook the bacon according to package directions. Once cooked, place strips on a paper towel lined plate and allow to cool. Meanwhile, chop the tomatoes, avocado, eggs, and chicken. Once cool, chop the bacon.
- In each quart size mason jar, divide all ingredients evenly. Layer the dressing, chicken, tomato, eggs, cheese, bacon and top with chopped romaine and avocado (I suggest adding avocado the day you plan to eat it).
Notes
- Use wide-mouth mason jars for easier layering and eating directly from the jar.
