Cuisine: German

Ingredients

  • Half of Conehead cabbage (about 300g)
  • 1 small red onion (or half of a medium onion)
  • ⅛-¼ cup pistachios
  • 1 small bunch of dill
  • 1 small bunch of chives
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ¼ tsp salt (or to taste)

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Remove an outer leaf (or two) from your cabbage. Slice in half. Chop half of the cabbage into 1 inch squares. Transfer to a salad bowl.
  2. Chop onion into small squares. Add to salad.
  3. Chop dill and chives into very small pieces. Add to salad.
  4. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, and salt to the salad. Mix well making sure there are no clumps of sour cream left. Set aside.
  5. Chop pistachios and add to the salad. Mix well.
  6. Let rest for half an hour. Serve.

Notes

  •  - Adding chopped pistachios at the end makes it easier to mix the salad well initially but they can be added in before adding the mayonnaise and sour cream if desired.
  •  - Cabbage keeps well in the fridge so the salad can be made again a week later if you are using just a half of the cabbage.
