Cooked Barley
Cooked Barley is an easy and healthy grain with a mild nutty flavor and chewy texture. It's perfect for soups, salads, or as a side to replace rice.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups chicken broth , or water
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup barley quick-cooking
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan bring chicken broth and salt to a boil.
- Stir in the barley, reduce heat, and cover.
- Simmer for 12 minutes, do not open the lid.
- Turn off heat, leaving covered for 5 minutes.
- Stir gently and serve.
