Cookie Monster Cookies Recipe
Indulge your inner child with adorable blue Cookie Monster Cookies! Learn how to bake and decorate these fun cookies, perfect for parties and nostalgia.
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 teaspoons butterfly pea powder or 3 drops blue food coloring - note: add more or less until the desired color is reached.
- 1 cup butter softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 egg
- 3 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 6 Oreo cookies chopped, reserve 1/2 for garnish
- 6 Chips Ahoy cookies chopped, reserve 1/2 for garnish
- 80 candy decorating eyes 2 eyes per cookie
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Dice the Oreos and chocolate chip cookies. Set half of the chopped cookies aside for using as decorations.
- In one bowl, add salt and baking soda to flour and mix.
- Use an electric mixer to add brown sugar, white sugar, and softened butter and mix until creamy. Add the eggs and vanilla and combine.
- Gradually add the butterfly pea powder or food coloring until the desired color is reached.
- Slowly mix in the flour mixture.
- Gently mix in the chocolate chips, then fold in half of the chopped cookies.
- Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out cookie dough balls. Roll into an even ball and place on the prepared cookie sheet. Leave room around each cookie to expand.
- Cook at 350° for 8 minutes. The cookies will have a soft center still.
- Gently flatten the cookies, sprinkle the remaining chopped cookie pieces on the bottom half of the cookie, then add two candy eyeballs to each cookie. Remember that Cookie Monster’s eyes are a little wonky, so place them accordingly.
- Let cookies rest for 5 minutes and remove to a cookie rack for further cooling.
Notes
- Keep adding food coloring until you have the perfect cookie monster shade of blue.
- Change up the chocolate chips for different flavors. Use peanut butter chips, dark chocolate chips, or white chocolate chips.
- Use different kinds of store-bought or homemade cookies to decorate the blue dough. Whatever you have on hand will work great.
- Use a larger cookie scoop to make jumbo cookies.
- Keep adding food coloring until you have the perfect cookie monster shade of blue.
