Copycat Chick-fil-A Lemonade: Fresh-Squeezed Perfection

Ingredients

  • 8 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup lemon juice + 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ice to serve
  • lemon slices to garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and salt.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil. Let it boil for 2 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
  3. Add the lemon juice and mix well.
  4. Pour the lemonade over ice and garnish with lemon slices if desired.

Notes

  • The quality of your water makes a surprising difference in the final taste. I've found that using filtered or spring water produces a cleaner, brighter flavor than tap water. When selecting lemons, look for fruits that feel heavy for their size and have slightly glossy, fine-grained skin. These juicier specimens typically yield more liquid. Room temperature lemons juice more efficiently than cold ones, so let them sit out for 30 minutes before squeezing. Rolling them firmly on the counter before cutting also helps release more juice.
