Crab Dip
Crab Dip blends cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and seasonings with fresh parsley and crabmeat to create a rich and creamy appetizer. The dip can be served cold or baked hot with a golden cheese topping, combining the sweet crab flavor with tangy and savory elements. Optional herbs and cheese add layers of texture and aroma, making it ideal for serving with crackers or bread.
Ingredients
- 1 (8 ounce) cream cheese softened, package
- ⅓ cup mayonnaise (I prefer Duke's brand)
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon onion dried minced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon seasoned salt (such as Lawry's brand)
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, fresh
- 16 ounces crabmeat drained, jumbo lump or claw
- cheddar cheese grated, sharp; optional topping for hot crab dip
- mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan Cheese
- parsley additional chopped fresh, or other herbs; optional garnish
- chives additional chopped fresh, or other herbs; optional garnish
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, use an electric mixer to blend together the cream cheese, mayonnaise, mustard, onion, garlic powder, and seasoned salt. Fold in the parsley and crab meat. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- This dip can be served hot or cold. For a hot dip, transfer the crab mixture to an oven-safe dish. Sprinkle grated cheese on top, if desired. Bake at 350°F until bubbly and heated through. Garnish with chopped fresh herbs just before serving.
Notes
- Soften cream cheese by cutting into small cubes and leaving at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before mixing.
- If short on time, microwave the cream cheese on a safe plate in 10-second increments, flipping between intervals, for about 30 seconds total to soften without melting.
