Cracker Barrel Chocolate Pecan Pie
Cracker Barrel Chocolate Pecan Pie blends a classic pecan pie filling with semi-sweet chocolate chips for a rich nutty and chocolate dessert. The filling of eggs, sugar, and corn syrup results in a firm but slightly jiggly custard that sets as it cools. Baking in an unbaked pie shell, the pecans rise to the surface, creating a satisfying crunchy top with pockets of melted chocolate throughout.
Ingredients
- 3 egg
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ cup margarine melted
- 1 cup pecans
- 3 tablespoons chocolate chips semi-sweet
- 1 pie shell unbaked
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a medium-sized bowl, beat together eggs.
- Add sugar and mix well.
- Add corn syrup, salt, vanilla, and margarine. Mix until well combined.
- Place pecans and chocolate chips in the pie shell.
- Slowly pour pecan pie filling into the pie shell. The pecans will rise up to the top when baking.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes.
Notes
- If the crust edges brown too quickly, cover them with foil strips halfway through baking to prevent burning.
- The center should have a slight jiggle like gelatin when done; it will firm up as it cools.
- Lightly toast pecans beforehand to enhance their flavor.
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips work well, though dark or milk chocolate chips can be used to adjust sweetness.
- Using room temperature eggs promotes smooth incorporation in the filling.
