Crispy Baked Garlic Shrimp
Crispy Baked Garlic Shrimp features shrimp marinated in a mixture of olive oil, garlic, lemon, and herbs, then lightly coated in breadcrumbs and baked until golden and opaque. The marinade imparts bright citrus and savory herb flavors while the breadcrumb layer adds a crisp texture. A quick bake results in tender, juicy shrimp with a flavorful crust, suitable as a warm appetizer or part of a main dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Shrimp 25/30 count, tails and shells left on
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 3 garlic pressed or grated, cloves
- 1 lemon zested and juiced
- 1 tablespoon parsley flat leaf, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons oregano dried
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes crushed
- 2 tablespoons bread crumbs finely ground, dried
Instructions
- Rinse, shell, and devein the shrimp leaving the tails on, then transfer to a bowl. Drizzle the shrimp with the olive oil, pressed garlic, lemon juice and zest, parsley, oregano, kosher salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes. Toss to combine, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- Pour the dried breadcrumbs into a shallow bowl. Gently shake off the extra marinade then lightly dredge each shrimp in the breadcrumbs and place in rows on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 4-5 minutes or until the shrimp are opaque in the center and the bread crumbs begin to brown. Serve warm with a squeeze of extra lemon if desired.
Notes
- For added flavor, cook garlic shrimp on a grill preheated to medium heat by threading shrimp on skewers in a C shape and grilling 4-5 minutes with the lid closed, turning once.
