Ingredients

  • 2.5 pounds frozen wings
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • kosher salt to taste
For the Hot Sauce:
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • ¾ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar firmly packed
  • 3 tablespoons worcetershire sauce
  • 1 ½ tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons Sriracha hot sauce
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
For the Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce:
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 package Hidden Valley Ranch Mix dry, regular, not buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Blue cheese crumbles

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Mix water and liquid smoke in the bottom of a large slow cooker. Add frozen wings and sprinkle with kosher salt. Cook on high for about 4 hours.
  2. Just before wings are done cooking, add all sauce ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 15 minutes.
  3. When wings are done cooking in the slow cooker, dip each wing in the sauce and place on a rimmed baking sheet. Place in oven under the broiler on high for a couple of minutes.
  4. Brush each wing again with sauce and place on the baking sheet again with the other side of the wing facing up. Place under the broiler again for a couple of minutes.
  5. Place wings on a serving plate and baste with the remaining sauce. Serve with blue cheese dipping sauce and celery sticks, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and/or fries.
Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce
  1. Mix together all the ingredients for the blue cheese dipping sauce except for the blue cheese crumbles. Then gently stir in the blue cheese. (You can also blend them in if you don’t like big pieces of cheese). Refrigerate for at least a couple of hours, the longer the better- it just gets more flavorful.
