Crock Pot Mulled Cider
This Crock Pot Mulled Cider is the perfect drink to warm you up on a cold day, especially during the holiday season. It's the ideal drink for entertaining and will make your kitchen smell wonderful as it simmers away in the slow cooker. Stovetop instructions included too.
Ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 1 orange cut into ¼-inch slices
- 4 cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon allspice berries whole
- brandy optional, or rum
- cinnamon sticks for garnish
- Orange slices for garnish
Instructions
- Place the apple cider, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice berries in a crockpot.
- Cook on low heat for 4 hours. Strain the cider and pour it into individual cups. If desired, you can add a splash (or two!) of brandy or rum. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange slices. Serve hot.
- To make this mulled cider on the stove, place all ingredients in a large stockpot. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Strain and serve.
Notes
- You can put bottles of brandy or rum next to the crock pot for your guests to spike their hot cider with.
- To make it easier to strain out the spices, you can place them in a piece of cheesecloth and tie it up into a sachet with kitchen twine. Then, simply remove it before serving.
