Crock pot Sesame Honey Garlic Chicken
This easy slow cooker honey garlic chicken recipe features tender chicken cooked in a sweet and sour savory sauce for a delicious main dish. Serve it with rice and vegetables for a filling, nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 2.5 lbs chicken thigh or chicken breasts, chopped, boneless, skinless
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup lemon juice fresh
- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- 2 Tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp avocado oil
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil toasted
- 5 cloves garlic minced
- ½ tsp black pepper to taste
- ¾ tsp salt to taste, sea salt
- 2 tsp all-purpose flour or regular all-purpose flour, optional, gluten-free
Instructions
- Chop the chicken into bite-sized pieces and transfer them to the bottom of the crock pot. Note: you can leave the chicken thighs or breasts whole too. For the most tender result, I recommend using chicken thighs.
- In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the sauce (honey, lemon juice, rice vinegar, liquid aminos or soy sauce, avocado oil, sesame oil, minced garlic, black pepper, sea salt, and flour). Mix until everything is well combined and any clumps of flour have dissolved.
- Pour the sauce into the slow cooker with the chopped chicken. Use a rubber spatula or a wooden spoon to stir everything well.
- Cook on High heat for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the sauce is very bubbly and the chicken is golden brown. You can check the internal temperature of the chicken by inserting a meat thermometer into several pieces to get an accurate read.
- Serve honey garlic chicken over rice or cauliflower rice with steamed or stir fry vegetables and a sprinkle of sesame seeds for a complete meal, and enjoy!
