Ingredients

  • 2 ounces white rum (1/4 cup, see note 1)
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice (1 1/2 tablespoons)
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup (1 1/2 tablespoons)
  • lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add rum, lime juice, and simple syrup.
  2. Cover and shake vigorously until chilled, about 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lime wedge.

Notes

  • White rum: There is nothing to disguise the rum here (not even ice!) so choose a premium one if you can afford it. The Real McCoy, Bacardi Superior, and Plantation 3 Stars are all excellent in a Daiquiri.
  • Yield: This recipe makes 1 cocktail.
  • Glassware: Serve your daiquiri in a cocktail glass such as a martini glass or a coupe glass.
  • Big batch: To make a batch of 8 cocktails, combine 16 ounces (2 cups) white rum, 6 ounces (3/4 cup) fresh lime juice, and 6 ounces (3/4 cup) simple syrup in a pitcher. Have ice, glassware, and lime wedges on hand so guests can help themselves.
