Ingredients

  • 4 lices white bread buttered cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Place brown sugar in the top pot or dish of the double boiler.
  2. Then add the cubed bread on top of the brown sugar.
  3. In a bowl, beat the eggs with milk, vanilla, and salt, then pour it over bread.
  4. Place the pot over simmering water on the double boiler, cover and cook for 1 1/2 hours. Do not stir the mixture.
  5. The brown sugar sauce will be in the bottom of pot.
  6. Once cooked, turn over the bread pudding onto a serving plate.
