Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 8 peach peeled and sliced; large
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter unsalted, melted
  • 1/2 cup milk whole
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a Dutch oven, combine the sliced peaches, 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the melted butter and milk until just combined.
  4. Spoon the batter over the peach mixture in dollops. Spread gently to cover as much of the peaches as possible.
  5. Sprinkle the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling. Remove from the oven, place on a wire rack, and allow to cool slightly.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
