Ingredients

  • 700 g ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 medium onion (grated)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh Rosemary (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 burger buns

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. To make the patties, place the ground beef, grated onion, garlic, salt, finely chopped rosemary, and freshly ground black pepper in a medium-sized mixing bowl.
  2. Mix them together just enough to fold in the other ingredients in the ground beef without over-mixing the mixture.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 200° C (390° F).
  4. Divide the mixture into 4 (approximately 215 grams each) and shape them into patties around 1 ½ cm (½ ") thick.
  5. Add a little dent in the center of each patty and place them into the preheated air fryer in a single layer. Cook them in batches if your air fryer basket is not big enough for 4 patties.
  6. Cook the patties for 5 minutes, open the air fryer and flip them to the other side, and cook for another 4-6 minutes.
  7. If you want to top your burgers with cheese, switch off the air fryer, top each patty with cheese, close the air fryer and then let the cheese melt on the burger for an additional minute.
  8. Remove the patties from the air fryer, place them on buns, and then garnish them with your favorite toppings and sauces.

Notes

  • Use ground beef with a minimum of %15 fat content (ideally %30) for the perfectly juicy patties.
  • Avoid overworking the ground beef mixture with your hands to prevent tough and chewy hamburgers.
  • Divide the ground beef mixture into similar-sized patties to ensure they all cook evenly.
  • Don't overcrowd the Air Fryer. Leave some space between each burger so they cook evenly. Cook them in batches if your air fryer basket is not big enough for 4 patties.
  • Air fryers can vary so make sure to check the doneness of your burgers a couple of minutes in advance to avoid overcooked burger patties. I used a "Ninja foodie 8-quart dual-zone air fryer" for this air fryer burger recipe.
  • Depending on the thickness and size of the burgers, you might need to adjust the cooking time. These timings should be taken as a guide.
  • If you want to use frozen burgers, you can cook them from frozen. Add 5 minutes to the cooking time until the center reaches the desired temperature.
