Easy Buttery Madeira Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 tbsp butter softened, unsalted
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 egg large
  • 1 tsp baking powder half
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp lemon extract natural

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Grease the cake or loaf pan with butter and dust with some flour.
  3. Place the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl with paddle attachment and cream them both together until creamy and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time and continue mixing until very well combined
  5. Slowly sift in the flour with the baking powder, and salt.
  6. Add in the lemon extract and continue mixing until batter is smooth and shiny
  7. deposit the batter into the cake or loaf pan about 3/4 full.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until skewer comes out dry.
  9. Once cake is baked, let cool in cake pan for 2-3 minutes then remove and place on wire rack for cooling.
