Easy Camping Orange Cake

Campfire Orange Cakes are one of my favorite camping meals. It’s incredibly moist and delicious, yet extremely easy and fun to make.

Ingredients

  • 15 oz white cake mix
  • other ingredients called for in cake mix e.g. water oil and eggs
  • 6 large oranges

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Set aside a large baking sheet.
  2. Slice off the top of oranges. Then remove the inside of oranges. Save the inside for orange juice.
  3. In a medium bowl, prepare cake batter according to instructions on the box.
  4. Add the cake batter in a zip-loc bag, and cut a corner off.
  5. Pipe batter into the hollowed oranges until 2/3 full. Put back the top piece of each orange.
  6. Wrap each orange in aluminum foil and cook over the campfire. Cook for 25-35 minutes or until cooked through.
  7. Remove from oven and unwrap the aluminum foil. Allow them to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  8. Using a sharp knife, slice under tops. Remove the top part and decorate with your preferred toppings. Serve and enjoy!
