Easy Chimichurri Sauce
Easy Chimichurri Sauce combines fresh flat-leaf parsley, red onion, garlic, and lemon juice with apple cider vinegar and dried herbs, blended with olive oil to create a zesty, herby condiment. It has a slightly grainy texture and a bright, tangy flavor with mild heat from red pepper flakes. This versatile sauce enhances grilled foods or can be added to rice, soups, or pasta for a fresh flavor boost.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley stalks removed, fresh
- 1/2 red onion chopped, small
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin ground
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon salt sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
- 120 ml or 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (or more to adjust the consistency)
Instructions
- Just combine everything in your food processor and pulse until combined. The chimichurri sauce is supposed to be a little grainy, but feel free to adjust the consistency and texture to your liking. If it's not liquid enough, just add a little more oil. Enjoy! See the usage tips above.
Notes
- This recipe yields about 2/3 cup, suitable for approximately 8 servings of 1 1/2 tablespoons each.
- Use chimichurri as a condiment for grilled foods or mixed into cauliflower or normal rice to add flavor.
- It can also be stirred into soups and stews to provide a zesty lift.
- Add more olive oil to create a salad dressing consistency if desired.
- Serve chimichurri with pasta as an alternative to pesto sauce for a fresh herb twist.
