Easy Chocolate Sauce Recipe

The Easy Chocolate Sauce is made by heating heavy cream and sugar to a gentle boil then whisking in semi-sweet chocolate chips until melted and smooth. This results in a rich, glossy sauce suitable for desserts or drizzling. It can be reheated gently to return to sauce consistency after chilling.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips semi-sweet

Instructions

  1. Add the cream and sugar to a medium size sauce pot and bring to a light boil over medium-low heat.
  2. Add in the chocolate, turn the heat to low and immediately whisk until the chocolate is mixed in and the sauce is smooth.
  3. Serve.

Notes

  • Reheat sauce gently over low heat or in a microwave until smooth and pourable again.
  • Make sauce up to 3-4 days in advance; store covered in the refrigerator.
  • Keep refrigerated for up to 7 days; do not freeze.
  • Thickened sauce in the fridge resembles ganache and can be scooped with berries.
  • Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half for a thinner sauce.
