Easy Christmas Truffles Recipe: Merry Chocolate Bites

Ingredients

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tbsp peppermint extract
  • red icing (optional)
  • green icing (optional)
  • holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pour the chocolate chips into a large bowl. Heat your heavy cream on the stove at medium heat until steaming and pour over the chocolate.
  2. Add the peppermint extract to the mixture and stir until combined.
  3. Place the truffle mixture into the fridge for at least 2 hours or until semi-firm.
  4. Scoop about 1 ½ tbsp of the chocolate mixture. Using the palms of your hands, roll the mixture into a round ball.
  5. Place each ball on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Repeat until you run out of the truffle mixture.
  6. Decorate with icing and sprinkles in any design you choose for a festive look.
  7. Place the balls in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy or gift.

Notes

  • You can use any type of melting chocolate you like, just keep in mind that milk or white chocolate will be very sweet.
  • These can be decorated however you like including regular sprinkles, dipped in cocoa powder, or decorative sugar.
  • Keep them frozen for up to 1 month or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
