Easy Cranberry Sauce
Easy Cranberry Sauce combines fresh or frozen cranberries with sugar, orange juice, and zest, cooked until the cranberries pop and the mixture thickens. The sauce can be pureed to create a smooth texture, making it a versatile condiment. It features a balance of tart, sweet, and citrus notes, suitable for pairing with savory dishes or desserts.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cranberries or frozen, fresh
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla optional, only if you plan on using it on desserts
Instructions
- Place cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and water in a saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low-medium and cook for 8 minutes or until cranberries pop and the mixture is syrupy.
- Stir in vanilla (if using) and remove from heat.
- Cool for 20-30 minutes.
- Add the mixture to a food processor and process for 1 minute or until smooth, depends how you prefer it.
- Serve.
