Easy Homemade Tartar Sauce

Skip the store-bought and make your own easily at home!

Servings: 12 tablespoons

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill
  • 1/4 cup dill pickle chopped, approximately 1 pickle spear
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mix: Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well.
  2. Chill: Cover bowl and place it in the fridge to chill.
  3. Serve with your favorite seafood dishes or store it in the fridge.

  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, but this can also vary based on whether you used homemade mayonnaise and how long ago it was made.  Up to two weeks when using freshly made mayonnaise, less based on when the mayonnaise was made.

  • Sour Cream: You can use all mayonnaise, too. We prefer the added tang from the sour cream, though. 
  • Fresh Dill: If using dried dill, you can substitute 1 teaspoon of dried dill.
  • Dijon Mustard: You can also substitute a milder stone ground mustard.
