Easy Meat Sauce

This is an easy and versatile recipe that tastes great on pasta or used to prepare lasagna!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 28 ounces canned diced tomatoes with juices, 1 can
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup dry red wine or beef broth
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown ground beef, onions, and garlic. Drain any fat.
  2. Add in all remaining ingredients. Simmer covered on low for 1-hour stirring occasionally. Remove lid and simmer an additional 15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened.
  3. Remove bay leaves before serving.

Notes

  • Make a large batch and freeze leftovers for a quick and easy weeknight meal!
