Ingredients
- 16 oz penne pasta
- 1 pound ground beef
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1/2 cup diced carrot
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 28 oz crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
For Serving
- grated Parmesan cheese
- fresh basil
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the pasta according to package directions until al denta.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil to medium-high. Add the carrot, celery, and onion and sauté stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes or until the vegetables are translucent and tender.
- Add ground beef, salt and pepper. Sauté for about 10 minutes or until the ground beef is cooked through, breaking the meat up as it cooks.
- Add wine, crushed tomatoes and dried basil. Stir to combine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 – 25 minutes.
- To serve, sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil.
