Easy Penne Bolognese Recipe

Penne bolognese is a hearty dish that’s surprisingly easy to make. It’s satisfying enough for even the biggest of appetites.

Ingredients

  • 16 oz penne pasta
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced carrot
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
For Serving
  • grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh basil

Instructions

  1. In a large pot of salted, boiling water, cook the pasta according to package directions until al denta.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil to medium-high. Add the carrot, celery, and onion and sauté stirring occasionally for about 10 minutes or until the vegetables are translucent and tender.
  3. Add ground beef, salt and pepper. Sauté for about 10 minutes or until the ground beef is cooked through, breaking the meat up as it cooks.
  4. Add wine, crushed tomatoes and dried basil. Stir to combine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 20 – 25 minutes.
  5. To serve, sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil.
