Ingredients
For the Tuna + Marinade
- 1 pound fresh ahi tuna steaks
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons freshly grated ginger
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 Jalapeno pepper or serrano pepper, seeded and minced
- 1/3 cup raw sesame seeds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Slaw
- 3 cups green cabbage thinly sliced
- 1 cup radishes finely chopped, greens removed
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves chopped
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup red onion diced
- 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- pepper to taste
Instructions
For the Tuna + Marinade
- Place the tuna in a shallow dish. Whisk together the soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and pepper and pour over top. Add a little water if necessary to fully submerge the fish. Cover and refigerate for at least 30 minutues or up to 2 hours.
- Pour the sesame seeds onto a plate. Remove the tuna from the marinade and roll in the seeds to coat.
- Heat the oil in a skillet over medium heat and sear the tuna to your desired doneness. We prefer 2 to 3 minutes per side so it's still mostly pink in the middle. When almost done, pour a couple spoonfuls of the marinade over top of the tuna and cook for a minute more.
- Slice the tuna thin and serve with warm corn tortillas and the slaw (recipe below).

For the Slaw
- In a large bowl, toss together the cabbage, radishes, cilantro, sour cream, red onion, lime juice, salt, and pepper until well combined.
