Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup almond milk or any preferred milk
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 lices bread thick
  • butter as needed, unsalted
  • maple syrup for serving
  • Fresh fruit for serving

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Whisk together milk, sugar, cornstarch, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until there are no lumps. Transfer to a shallow dish.
  2. Dunk each slice of bread into the mixture before any cornstarch settles at the bottom of the dish. Dip the slices for a few seconds, being careful not to oversoak them.
  3. Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt butter to coat the pan. Place the soaked bread slices on the skillet and cook for about 4 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  4. Serve the French toast immediately. Top with fresh fruit and maple syrup when serving.
