Fajita Seasoning

This combination of classic herbs and spices is simple to make and keeps in the pantry for months.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar optional
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl combine chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt pepper, and cayenne pepper, and whisk together.
  2. Store in a spice jar or an airtight container.
  3. To use fajita seasoning, combine 1 pound of meat and 1 ½ tablespoons of seasoning mix (or more to taste). Grill or cook in a cast iron skillet with sliced onions and bell peppers.

Notes

  • This recipe can made in a big batch and stored for up to 6 months.
  • Use 1 ½ tablespoons of homemade fajita seasoning mix to replace 1 packet of fajita seasoning.
