French Toast Sticks

Ingredients

  • 4 lices Texas Toast bread each slice cut into 4 strips, or brioche bread, thick
  • 2 egg large
  • 1/3 cup milk whole
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • butter as needed, for frying, unsalted
  • maple syrup for serving, optional
  • Fresh fruit for serving, optional

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla extract.
  2. In another shallow bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together.
  3. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip bread strips into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and place in the skillet.
  4. Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Immediately transfer the cooked French toast sticks to the cinnamon sugar bowl and roll in the mixture until well coated.
  5. Serve with maple syrup and fresh fruit if desired.
