French Toast Sticks
Delicious, custardy, and coated with crisp cinnamon sugar; French Toast Sticks are perfect for picky kids or an indulgent brunch with friends.
Ingredients
- 4 lices Texas Toast bread each slice cut into 4 strips, or brioche bread, thick
- 2 egg large
- 1/3 cup milk whole
- 1 pinch kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- butter as needed, for frying, unsalted
- maple syrup for serving, optional
- Fresh fruit for serving, optional
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla extract.
- In another shallow bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon together.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip bread strips into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and place in the skillet.
- Cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2 to 3 minutes per side. Immediately transfer the cooked French toast sticks to the cinnamon sugar bowl and roll in the mixture until well coated.
- Serve with maple syrup and fresh fruit if desired.
