Ingredients
- 4 green tomatoes , cut into ½ inch (1,5 cm) thick slices
- 2 eggs
- ½ cup milk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tablespoon salt
- black pepper , freshly ground
- 1 quart vegetable oil , for frying

Instructions
- In a small bowl, whisk the milk and eggs vigorously.
- Pour the flour into a deep plate.
- In another shallow plate, combine the cornmeal, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
- Dip the tomatoes in the flour, coating them well.
- Then dip the tomatoes in the milk and egg mixture, then dip them in the cornmeal and breadcrumbs mixture, coating them well.
- Heat the oil in a large, deep frying pan and bring it to 350 F (180°C) using a kitchen thermometer.
- Dip the tomato slices in the hot oil in batches of 4 or 5 to prevent them from touching.
- Fry them until golden brown and crispy on one side. Then turn them over and fry them on the other side.
- Transfer the fried tomatoes to a large serving dish lined with paper towels to drain.
- Repeat the same process until you run out of tomato slices.
- Serve hot.
