Fried Oreos

Fried Oreos are a delicious carnival food made by dipping chocolate sandwich cookies in batter and frying, then topped with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter , melted
  • 1 cup pancake mix
  • 26 Oreo cookies , 1 package
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar , optional
  • 1 cup raspberry jam

Instructions

  1. To a large bowl add the milk, egg and melted butter and whisk well.
  2. Sift pancake mix, then add to the bowl and whisk well until no lumps are left.
  3. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat 3" of oil in a large pot to 375 degrees.
  5. Dip the cookie in the batter then carefully add to the oil.
  6. Fry 3-4 Oreo cookies at a time.
  7. Fry for 1 minute on each side, until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 2 minutes then dust with powdered sugar and serve with raspberry jam.
