Fried Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil as needed for frying
  • 1 pound large shrimp peeled, deveined, and patted dry
  • Freshly chopped parsley for garnish
  • Tartar sauce or cocktail sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In another shallow bowl, place the beaten eggs. In a third bowl, add the panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Carefully dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, then into the eggs, and finally coat with panko breadcrumbs. Set aside on a plate.
  4. In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat oil to 375°F. Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve with fresh parsley sprinkled on top and preferred dipping sauce.
