Garlic Cheese Bread
Garlic Cheese Bread features halved French bread topped with an olive oil mixture of fresh garlic, parsley, chives, and salt, then layered with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Baking melts the cheeses into a bubbly, golden topping while crisping the bread underneath. The result is a savory bread with vibrant garlic and herb flavors and a satisfying crisp texture.
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup olive oil
- 6 garlic grated or finely chopped, cloves
- 1 tablespoon parsley finely chopped, plus more for garnish, fresh
- 1 tablespoon chives finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ounce loaf French bread cut in half lengthwise
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- ¼ cup parmigiano reggiano shredded
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, grated garlic, fresh chopped parsley and chives, and salt.
- Place the two bread halves, cut sides up, on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon the garlic and herb olive oil evenly over the cut sides, and sprinkle evenly with the mozzarella and parmigiano reggiano.
- Bake for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling and the bread is crispy on the bottom. Cut each bread half crosswise into 8 pieces, sprinkle with extra fresh parsley, and serve.
Notes
- Store leftover bread in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days.
- Reheat in the oven or air fryer until the cheese is melted and bread is warmed through.
- Use fresh garlic for a stronger flavor; chop finely or grate for better distribution.
- Sprinkle extra fresh parsley on top before serving for added color and freshness.
