German Potato ジャーマンポテト

German potato recipe that is popular in Japan

Ingredients

  • 50 g Japanese or German sausages
  • 300 g potato
  • 2 lices of rindless bacon
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tsp whole grain mustard
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped Parsley or fresh thyme to garnish

Instructions

  1. Wash the potato well and cut them into small bite size pieces.
  2. Slice the sausages about 1cm thick and cut the bacon into small pieces too.
  3. Place the potato in water (just cover the potato) and bring to boil over medium heat. Cook the potato for about 10 minutes or until the potato becomes soft. Drain the water.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over high heat and crush the garlic into the frying pan.
  5. When the garlic becomes fragrant, add the bacon and sausages into the frying pan. Cook the bacon and sausages till brown.
  6. Add the cooked potato and mustard to the frying pan. Stir and fry them all together and add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve and garnish with Parsley or Thyme *1

Notes

  • *1 I used thyme to garnish. You could replace with chopped scallion too.
