Ingredients

  • 2 medium ripe Bartlett pears diced
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine pears, sugar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer over medium to medium-high heat.
  2. Let simmer for 15-20 minutes, smashing the pears with the back of a spoon as they soften.
  3. Strain the syrup over a bowl or jar, using a fine mesh strainer to remove the pear pieces. Press down on the pears to extract as much goodness as you can. Let cool and use in your favorite beverage, or place in the fridge in an airtight container.

Notes

  • Yields approximately 1/2 cup of syrup.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks; if you notice any spots, discard and make a new batch.
  • Canned Pears - use a "no sugar added" variety; the syrup will be slightly sweeter but they will work.
