Goat Cheese Crostini Canapes

Goat cheese and fresh pesto on toasted baguette slices is an easy and delicious appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces goat cheese softened at room temperature
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
  • 24 crostini or toasted baguette slices
  • 1/2 cup pesto
  • chopped fresh basil or parsley to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the goat cheese and cream cheese in a small bowl. Add the garlic powder and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Store the cheese mixture in an airtight container for at least 1 hour before serving to let the flavors marry.
  3. To create the canapé, spread about 1/2 tablespoon of the cheese onto each crostini.
  4. Just before serving, spoon a small amount of pesto on top. Garnish with chopped fresh basil or parsley if desired.
