Ingredients

  • ½ pound beef or more, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for coating the beef
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ tablespoon neutral cooking oil to cook the beef, generic cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil to cook the fried rice, generic cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 cup kimchi
  • ¼ cup kimchi juice
  • 1 tablespoon garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce low sodium
  • 4½ cup rice cold, cooked

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the beef to a bowl or a plate and toss to coat with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and the salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
  2. Add ½ tablespoon of oil to a skillet over medium-high heat, and once the pan is hot, add the beef in a single layer. Leave the beef untouched for a minute (or more if your beef is thicker), and then flip. Allow the beef to cook through and set aside.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the skillet and once it’s hot again, add the diced onion. Saute the onions for a minute before adding the kimchi and garlic. Saute for another minute.
  4. Add the kimchi juice, gochujang, and soy sauce to the skillet and cook for another minute.
  5. Add the cold rice to the skillet and toss to combine. Cook for two to three minutes or until the rice is hot.
  6. Add the beef back to the skillet and toss to combine.
  7. Serve as is or garnish with green onions.
