Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Green bean trimmed and halved, fresh
  • 3 tablespoons butter unsalted
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth low-sodium
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups fried onions crispy

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Blanch green beans in boiling water for 5 minutes, then plunge into ice water to stop cooking. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant. Stir in flour to form a roux. Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream, cooking until the sauce thickens.
  3. Combine green beans and sauce in a baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Top with crispy fried onions.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly. Serve warm.
