Green Bean Casserole With Bacon

Ingredients

  • 54 oz green beans recommend Margaret Holmes Seasoned Italian
  • 30 oz cream of celery soup 2 cans
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 4 slices Bacon cooked crispy, chopped small
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 1 tbs garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon fish sauce (optional - but it amps up the flavor)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt (if using the Margaret Holmes seasoned beans, do not add extra salt)
  • 1 tsp black pepper ground. If using the seasoned beans, do not add pepper.
  • 1 ½ Cups French fried onions

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare a 9x13 baking dish with non stick spray.
  2. Mix all of the ingredients EXCEPT the french fried onions together in a large mixing bowl. Use a spatula to mix gently but well. Pour into the prepared 9x13 baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the french fried onions over the top
  4. Bake for 35-45 minutes until bubbly throughout. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Fry the bacon EXTRA crispy!  Verging on burnt is best! You can make it in the oven to avoid the mess!
  • Make sure you have everything ready to go before you start to assemble the casserole! 
  • Feel free to use less french fried onions, but I think they make a perfect bite and love to use LOTS! 
  • You'll want a really flavorful whole grain mustard.  If you don't have whole grain, then try Dijon but don't do yellow mustard.
