Green Kitchen Stories' Turmeric Tonic

This turmeric tonic combines soaked raw almonds and cashews with turmeric, ginger, maple syrup, vanilla, and spices, blended smooth and strained to create a creamy, spiced beverage. Ingredients

  • 1 cup almond mixed, raw, 150g
  • 1 cup cashew mixed, raw, 150g
  • 4 teaspoons Turmeric or 2 teaspoons ground turmeric, grated, fresh
  • 2 teaspoon ginger or 1-2 teaspoons ground ginger, grated fresh
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups water filtered, 1¾ pints
  • ¼ teaspoon salt sea salt
  • pinch black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the nuts in a bowl, cover with filtered water and soak for 12 hours (in the morning or overnight)
  2. Drain and rinse the nuts, discarding the soaking water. 
  3. Add them to a blender along with the rest of the ingredients. Blend on a high speed until completely smooth. 
  4. Taste and adjust the spiciness and sweetness to your liking by adding more ginger and/or maple syrup
  5. Strain the turmeric milk through a nut milk bag or a piece of cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve and store in the fridge in a large glass carafe with a lid/stopper
  6. The tonic can keep for a few days in the fridge, if sealed.
  7. Serve cold or gently warmed up.
