Grilled Honey BBQ Chicken Recipe

This Grilled Honey BBQ Chicken Recipe combines a marinade of barbecue sauce, honey, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and spices to coat boneless skinless chicken breasts before grilling. The chicken absorbs the sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavors and is grilled over medium-high heat to a juicy finish. Optional sriracha adds heat, and fresh herbs serve as garnish, making a flavorful main dish suitable for casual dinners.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup honey
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons sriracha optional and to taste
  • 2 to 4 cloves garlic finely minced or pressed
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper or to taste, freshly ground
  • chicken breast boneless, skinless, about 1.25 pounds, tenders
  • cilantro optional for garnishing, or parsley

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. To a large ziptop plastic bag, add all ingredients except the optional fresh herbs. Seal bag and squish the contents around so chicken is evenly coated.
  2. Place bag in the fridge to marinate for at least 1 hour (overnight is great if you can plan ahead).*
  3. Preheat an outdoor grill (or grill pan if making inside) to medium-high heat and grill the chicken for about 7 minutes, or until done; flip intermittently to ensure even cooking. Optionally garnish with fresh herbs and serve immediately.
  4. Chicken is best fresh but will keep airtight in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 4 months.

Notes

  • Marinate chicken for at least one hour, but overnight is preferable for stronger flavor.
  • Reserve half of the marinade to use as a dipping sauce, keeping it separate from raw chicken marinade.
  • Grill chicken over medium-high heat, flipping intermittently to cook evenly without drying out.
  • Store cooked chicken airtight in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 4 months.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley before serving for added freshness.
