Grilled Pineapples
Grilled Pineapples is a simple recipe where fresh pineapple slices are coated with a vegan butter and brown sugar mixture enhanced by cinnamon and a pinch of salt before being grilled to caramelize the sugars. The grilling process softens the pineapple while adding a slight smoky flavor and caramelized exterior. This preparation highlights the natural sweetness and juiciness of ripe pineapples, making a tasty side or dessert option.
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons vegan butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch salt
- 1 pineapple peeled, cored, and sliced, ripe
Instructions
- In a small bowl, heat the butter. Whisk in the brown sugar, cinnamon, and pinch of salt.
- Preheat the grill and lightly oil or spray. If you’re using a grill pan, preheat on medium-high and spray.
- Brush the mixture onto both sides of each pineapple slice and place it on the grill for 2 minutes on each side.
Notes
- Cut pineapple slices about half an inch to three-fourths inch thick to maintain shape on the grill.
- Canned pineapple rings can be used if fresh pineapple is not available.
- Preheat and lightly grease the grill to prevent sticking; a neutral oil is preferred.
- Let pineapple slices sear without moving for about 2 minutes per side for proper caramelization.
