Ingredients
- 17.3 ounce box of puff pastry 2 sheets, thawed
- 6 slices ham
- 6 slices cheese
- 4 ounce block cheddar cheese block to make stars
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Take one sheet of thawed puff pastry and lay it on your baking sheet
- Add the sliced ham directly on top of the puff pastry. Then top with the slices on cheese.
- Place another piece of puff pastry on top, carefully lining up the top and bottom pieces.
- Slice the puff pastry sandwich into 8 equal strips width wise.
- Start folding the pastry strips making it a big fold at the bottom and getting smaller as you go up to create a triangle shape.
- Carefully push a skewer up through all the layers of the puff pastry. Make sure to leave at least an inch of the skewer at the top for the star later.
- Place them on the parchment lined baking tray.
- Bake 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- In a small microwave safe bowl melt the butter and add the parsley, and garlic salt.
- Brush the butter mixture over the warm trees once they're out of the oven.
- Let the trees cool slightly.
- Use a small star cookie cutter to cut stars out of the cheddar cheese.
- Place a star on top of each tree as soon as they're cool enough to handle. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Cup of Yum
Notes
- Soak skewers ahead of time to get rid of splinters. Make sure to use room temperature water and allow them to sit in the water for roughly thirty minutes before using.
- Assemble the trees ahead of time and then place them in the fridge wrapped in plastic wrap until ready to bake.
- Serve with a variety of dipping sauces like this pesto or ranch.
- Store in an airtight container for up to one week in the fridge.
