Ham Glaze Recipe

Easy ham glaze prepared on the stove top then topped on the ham adding a sweet and savory flavor.

Ingredients

  • 7-9 pound ham
  • 1/3 cup real maple syrup or sugar free option
  • 3 Tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or sugar free option
  • 3 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ground
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves ground

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 325°F
  2. Remove ham from packaging. If there are any liquids, reserve add it and add to the roasting pan.
  3. Place the ham cut side down in a shallow roasting pan and for a spiral ham as shown and cook uncovered.
  4. Whisk cider vinegar, syrup, brown sugar, mustard and spices together in a small small saucepan.
  5. Over medium heat stir until the sugar has dissolved. 
  6. When the internal temperature reaches 120°F spoon or brush the ham with the prepared glaze.
  7. Increase the heat to 350°F for the last 10 minutes of cooking. Watch to make sure the glaze doesn't burn. Gently tent with foil and let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Ensure the internal temperature has reached 140°F before serving.

Notes

  • Cooked Hams re-heat to an internal temperature of 140°F (60 °C) 
  • Cook raw fresh ham and ready-to-eat ham to a minimum internal temperature of 145 °F (62.8 °C) 
  • If the ham is larger than 8 pounds cover loosely with foil half way through roasting to prevent it from drying.
  • The internal temperature can rise up to 10-15°F while the ham is resting.
