Ingredients

  • 10 pounds spiral cut ham
  • 2 cups water
Glaze
  • the packet that came with the ham

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat your roaster oven to 325 degrees F.
  2. Add the water to the bottom of the roaster oven.
  3. Use a sharp knife to score ham diagonally, about ½ inch deep.
  4. Wrap the ham in foil, leaving it open at the top.
  5. Place the ham on the rack. Set the rack in the preheated roaster oven. Roast it for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  6. Follow the package instructions to make the glaze while the ham roasts.
  7. Brush with half the glaze. Wrap the ham up again and roast for another 1 hour.
  8. Brush the remaining glaze on the ham, and turn the heat to 425 degrees F. Roast for 15 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees F on the meat thermometer.
  9. Rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • While you can use any ham for this recipe, spiral-cut, precooked ham works best. It's easier to serve and heats up beautifully in the roaster oven.
  • Remember, your ham is already cooked! You're heating it through and adding some delicious glaze. Overcooking can lead to a dry, tough ham, so keep an eye on that internal temperature and don't let it go above 140°F.
  • Brushing your ham with glaze adds flavor and keeps the meat moist and juicy. Don't be afraid to baste generously and frequently.
  • As with any meat, it's essential to let your ham rest for at least 10 minutes before serving.
  • You can also cook two 10-pound hams in a roaster. Increase the cooking time to 15-20 minutes per pound of combined weight.
