Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 16 oz Velveeta cheese cubed
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- rye bread cocktail size
- parsley optional, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees
- In a large pan, over medium heat, brown the ground beef and ground sausage.
- Drain the meat and return back to the pan.
- Add in velveeta cheese, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, oregano and worcestershire sauce. Return the pan to medium low heat. Continue to mix until velveeta cheese has melted completely.
- Spread a tablespoon of mixture to cocktail rye bread and place on a pan lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 6 minutes or until the cheese topping is bubbling.
- Top with parsley before serving if you wish.
Notes
- You can also serve the cheese mixture with tortilla chips as a dip.
- You can brown ground beef and sausage ahead of time and store in the refrigerator to use at a later date to cut down on preparation time.
- If you can’t find cocktail rye bread, regular slices of rye bread will also work.
- Store in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze in a single layer for 1 month.
