Hibiscus Margarita
Easy to make, this Hibiscus Margarita is made from Hibiscus simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and tequila. Perfectly sweet, tart, and a beautiful dark pink color, this cocktail is the perfect pairing with your favorite Mexican or Tex Mex meal.
Ingredients
Hibiscus Simple Syrup
- 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup water
Lime Zest Sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar white
- lime zest from 1 lime
Hibiscus Margarita
- 3 ounces tequila reposada
- 2 ounce triple sec
- 2 ounces hibiscus simple syrup
- 1 ounce lime juice freshly squeezed
Instructions
Hibiscus Simple Syrup
- Prepare the Hibiscus simple syrup: Pour the water into a medium size saucepan, add the sugar. Stir to combine.
- Heat over medium heat while stirring. Bring to a boil, add in the hibiscus. Stir using a metal spoon. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes then remove from heat.
- Allow this mixture to steep for 10-15 minutes.
- Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a glass container. Discard the dried flowers.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature, cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
Hibiscus Margarita
- Combine the lime zest with the sugar using your fingers.
- Add ice into a cocktail shaker, pour in the tequila, triple sec, hibiscus syrup and lime juice. Shake to combine.
- Prepare the glasses by running a lime on the edge, then dipping into the lime zest sugar.
- Fill the glasses 2/3 with crushed ice.
- Pour the margarita mix into the glasses over the ice.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Sweetness: if you taste the margarita and want it sweeter, add extra syrup.
