Hibiscus Simple Syrup

This homemade hibiscus simple syrup adds a tart and tangy floral flavoring to drinks, cocktails, desserts and more! This easy to make basic syrup is beautiful and packed with nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup dried hibiscus

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the water to a small saucepan.
  2. Pour in the sugar and stir to combine.
  3. Heat over medium heat until just starting to boil, stirring occasionally until the sugar is dissolved and no longer visible.
  4. Remove from heat. Pour in the dried hibiscus flowers.
  5. Allow the flowers to steep for at least 15 minutes. Then pour mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a container. Discard the flowers.
  6. Store in a jar with a lid in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Storage: 
  • Can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for 3-4 weeks. 
  • Freeze in silicone ice cube tray, remove and place in a freezer safe container. Store up to 3 months. Thaw and use as needed.
