Homemade BBQ Sauce

This easy homemade BBQ sauce is sweet, tangy, with a little spice. It is great for grilling, marinating, and dipping. You will never buy store bought BBQ sauce again. Homemade is the way to go!

Ingredients

  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 Jalapeño seeds removed and minced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  1. In a large skillet, whisk together the tomato sauce, jalapeño, brown sugar, molasses, pineapple juice, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, dried mustard, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  2. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium high heat and reduce to low heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the sauce slightly thickens.
  3. Use the sauce immediately or store in the refrigerator in a jar or container for up to 2 weeks.
