Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 yellow onion , diced
  • 2 cloves garlic , minced
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add the oil and onions to a large pot on medium heat and cook for 5-6 minutes until the onions are softened, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add the garlic, tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt and pepper and stir well.
  3. Bring to a boil then lower the heat to a simmer then cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  4. Use warm or refrigerate until needed.
