Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe

This homemade barbecue sauce can be customized to suit any dish. Just store it in the fridge and use it on chicken, ribs, or pork chops!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ onion finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ⅔ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • ½ tablespoon dry mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan on medium low heat, cook onion and garlic in oil until tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 20 minutes or until thickened.

Notes

  • Makes about 2 cups. 
  • Store sauce in a tightly sealed mason jar or container.
